Reforming long-established ways of doing things in large education systems sometimes seems to be an impossible mission.  There is not always a clear link between political rhetoric and goals for education and the implementation of new programs in the classroom. Presenters with a range of experiences in politics, policy making, research and practice described some of the challenging aspects of educational change, and strategies they have found to be most effective for promoting reforms.
