The second day of the WISE Summit 2011 closed with the Gala Dinner. All participants gathered to celebrate the winning projects of the 2011 WISE Awards.
Awards established as global benchmark
The WISE Awards are now in their third year. They already constitute a global community of best practices, setting new standards for innovation in education.
The Gala Dinner was an inspirational evening, a celebration of the spirit of WISE, demonstrating the potential of practical transformation through innovative education across the world.
An evening of entertainment to recognize the 2011 winners
The guests enjoyed a program of entertainment highlighting the vision and outworking of the winning projects thanks to pictures from the WISE book and music performed by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Fayha Choir from Lebanon.
The six WISE Awards trophies were presented to the winners by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation.

- Al Jisr School‐Business Partnerships: involving the business sector to improve the quality of education in Morocco, represented by Mhammed Abbad Andaloussi.
- BBC Janala: providing English language lessons through multi‐media devices to millions of leaners in Bangladesh, represented by Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman.
- Connexions: an open source platform allowing the sharing of knowledge online across the globe, based in the United States of America, represented by Richard Baraniuk.
- Creative Partnerships: developing the creative skills of young people across the United Kingdom, represented by Paul Collard.
- SuenaLetras: a software tool that supports literacy learning for deaf children, based in Chile and used in several countries, represented by Ricardo Rosas.
- TESSA: an online platform which improves teacher education in Sub‐Saharan Africa, represented by Freda Wolfenden.
