WISE Awards 2009: recognising and celebrating outstanding practice and significant achievements that have contributed to enhancing Pluralism, Sustainability and Innovation in education.

This year’s six award-winning projects were identified and selected from a total of 394 legitimate applications by the nine international jurors in recognition of their exceptional impact on education for the 21st century. The Laureates were offered the opportunity to raise their profiles and showcase their successes during the Summit in Doha and were given their Awards and $20,000 money-prize at the Gala Dinner held on November 17th, 2009.

In line with the international outreach of WISE, project submissions and interest stemmed from across the globe and the six 2009 WISE Awards winning projects originated from South and Latin America, North America, Africa, and Asia and Oceania. They cover three main educational sectors: Primary and Secondary Education, Further and Higher Education, and Adult Learning/Women’s Empowerment.

Once again, the Qatar Foundation wishes to thank all the applicants for making the WISE Awards 2009 such an outstanding triumph and it hopes that the WISE Awards 2010 will enjoy the same, if not greater, success. More information on this new edition will be presented here in due course.
