Qatar Foundation is launching the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) with the objective of benefiting the global education community by creating and sharing pioneering proposals to address emerging global issues.
Qatar Foundation anticipates WISE becoming an internationally recognized brand representing the future of education as it faces new global challenges and the changing needs of future generations.
The debut international Forum, to be held in Doha from November 16th to November 18th, 2009, and unique WISE Awards 2009, set to reward the most innovative education related initiatives, with a theme of: : "Global Education: Working Together for Sustainable Achievements.” will focus on 21st century educational models, innovation, new initiatives, best practices, and educational engagement on a global scale.
Supported by an international communication program, the organization is set to attract the worlds' leading decision makers interested in education related issues. Distinguished by a unique action-oriented WISE Awards 2009, which will reward and spread awareness of the most innovative education related initiatives. WISE will be a biennial conference bringing together actors and influencers from a wide variety of areas around the globe, creating a constructive, open forum for leading decision makers and other actors that usually do not have a chance to interact, create innovative, appropriate, current solutions for the changing needs of the global community. This strongly differentiating format and action oriented positioning will deliver concrete, strong, added-value initiatives and benefit the entire education community.
WISE will be the international educational landmark through innovative approaches:
Rethinking 21st century challenges towards global education;
Mapping global education perspectives and future scenarios;
Capturing the power of education as a global tool to create a better world.
The purpose of the WISE initiative is to create:
The ideal platform for open, and insightful discussions to share visions and create actions to meet the realities of the 21st century in education;
A platform to enhance human capacity for a better global future;
A long-term commitment to drive change and innovation in education through multi-stakeholder partnerships, interdisciplinary approaches, and visionary ideas.
WISE will be a long-term hub for politicians, practitioners, academics, institutions, and other actors to come together, sharing ideas and experiences to shape the educational ambitions of the 21st century.
