Alex heads the Center for Global Industries in the Forum's Geneva headquarters with senior management responsibility for leading the development and implementation of the Forum's industry strategies. Alex has additionally directed the IT and Telecoms, Media & Entertainment, Consumers, Mobility, and Basic Industries teams since joining the Forum in 2000.

Since its inception in 2003, Alex has also headed the Global Education Initiative (GEI), a flagship Forum initiative that researches, promotes, develops, and implements partnerships in education at the national and global level to help countries achieve their quantitative and qualitative education sector objectives. The GEI has facilitated active partnership initiatives in Jordan, Egypt, Rajasthan, Rwanda, and the Palestinian Territories and has global partnerships with Unesco “Partnerships for Education” and the Fast Track Initiative “Global Education Alliance”. In April 2009, the GEI also published “Educating the Next Wave of Entrepreneurs”, a comprehensive report on entrepreneurship education as a key catalyst for innovation and economic growth.

Prior to joining the Forum, Alex worked for twelve years in a variety of professional roles including Accenture, General Motors, and the US National Parks Service. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.
