Madeleine Green leads internationalization efforts at ACE and its Center for International Initiatives (CII). CII offers programs and services that support and enhance internationalization on U.S. campuses. It also works with international partners on higher education issues that have a global impact, conducts research on internationalization, and advocates on international issues.

Green is widely published on higher education issues. Her recent publications include Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses (2008), On the Ground Overseas: U.S. Degree Programs and Branch Campuses Abroad (2008), A Guide to Internationalization for Chief Academic Officers (with Barbara Hill) (2008), A Handbook for Advancing Comprehensive Internationalization: What Institutions Can Do and What Students Should Learn (2006), Where Faculty Live: Internationalizing the Disciplines (2006), Building a Strategic Framework for Comprehensive Internationalization (2005); Internationalizing the Campus: A User's Guide (2003); and the On Change series. Her areas of expertise also include higher education management, leadership and governance, and she has also authored numerous books and articles on leadership and management in higher education.

Green served as interim president of Mount Vernon College (DC) from 1990-91. She also served as member of the board of trustees of Wilson College (PA) from 1988-93 and at Sweet Briar College (VA) from 1994-2002. She is currently a board member at Juniata College (PA) and the International Association of Universities.

She holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, both in French literature.
