Professor Muhammad Waqar Azeem is an Inaugural Chair of Psychiatry / Child Psychiatry for Sidra Medical and Research Center. He is Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College / Cornell University. He is Chair of Qatar’s National Autism Plan Working Group and Co-Chair of WISH Autism Forum. 

 
Professor Azeem’s clinical and research interests include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Disabilities, Global Mental Health and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Training. He has presented nationally and internationally and has published in peer reviewed journals. 
 
He served on various boards and committees at regional, national and international level. In addition, he collaborates with various institutions in South East Asia and Middle East on various projects to improve child and adolescent services and training.  
 
Prior to joining Sidra, Professor Azeem was an Associate Professor at Yale University. In addition, he held the position of Chief of Psychiatry & Medical Director of Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center as well as the Associate Residency Program Training Director for Yale’s Child & Adolescent Fellowship. He has done his child and adolescent training at Children’s Hospital Boston with Harvard Medical School.
 
Professor Azeem is Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) as well as Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
