Pedro Hepp K is a Civil Electrical Engineer (Catholic University of Chile, 1976), and has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Edinburgh University. He is a full Professor at the University of La Frontera (Temuco, Chile), member of the Advisory Council at the Catholic University of Temuco and fellow of Education Impact. 

President of TIDE (a consulting firm and software house), member of the Board of Directors of several foundations, including: AraucaníAprende, San Francisco, San José and País Digital. Member of the Microsoft Innovative Schools Council. 

He was the National Coordinator of the “Enlaces” (ICT in education) Program of the Chilean Ministry of Education for 10 years until 2001. He has consulted for the World Bank on ICT in several countries and has participated in many international events related to Digital Divide, Knowledge Society and ICT in education on behalf of the Chilean Ministry of Education, the University of La Frontera, the World Bank and UNESCO. He has published extensively on ICT in education and has conducted several research projects funded by IDB, UNDP, World Bank, Conicyt, IDRC and other agencies.

His main areas of interest include Information and Communication Technologies in primary education in developing countries, in particular policy design, ICT in low-income and rural schools, and the roles of ICT in intercultural education, particularly mapuche students in rural areas.
