Anthony J. Smith is an experienced educator and Model United Nations (MUN) Director at Tariq Bin Ziad School, where he founded and leads the school’s MUN program, now entering its second year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and brings a deep passion for student leadership, civic engagement, and global learning to his work.

Mr. Smith’s journey with Model United Nations began in high school, where he earned recognition as Best Delegate. Since then, he has served as the MUN Director at Karachi American School for three years and at Qatar Academy for six years, guiding hundreds of students to develop confidence, diplomacy, and cross-cultural understanding through simulation-based learning.

Beyond education, he is a former U.S. Marine air traffic controller and has served as the Aquatics Director for the YMCA Camps of Metro Detroit. He has also been a long-term volunteer and leader in Alternative Spring Break and Winter Break programs, focusing on community service and youth development.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has remained committed to empowering young people to think critically, act compassionately, and engage meaningfully with the world around them. His work continues to inspire students to see themselves as global citizens capable of creating positive change.
