Dr. Aikaterini Bagiati

Principal Research Scientist
Dr. Bagiati is currently a Principal Research Scientist within MIT Open Learning, where her work focuses on STEM education research and program development, with particular emphasis on engineering, AI, and technology education across K–12, higher education, and workplace learning. Her work also examines the effectiveness of innovative learning technologies and contemporary pedagogical approaches.
Over her fourteen years at MIT, Dr. Bagiati has participated in national and international collaborative initiatives, including partnerships with schools, ministries, the U.S. Air Force, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse/National Institutes of Health (NIDA/NIH).
In recent years, she has focused on designing training resources to support teachers and faculty in applying updated pedagogies and instructional design models in engineering and technology education. She is also actively engaged in evaluation studies related to introductory courses in engineering and design.
Through her collaboration with MIT RAISE, she works on developing AI education resources and programs tailored for K–12 learners at various educational levels.
Her research interests include early engineering education, engineering and technology curriculum development and teacher training, online learning, AI education, and international educational development.
