Dr. Changyun Kang is a cross-cultural educator and a strong advocate for the internationalization of education and Chinese culture. He currently serves as Vice Director at Beijing Normal University China Education Innovation Institute, Chief Education Consultant at Intelligent Education Research Center, Zhejiang University, and Chief Education Consultant at BGI-Wanwu.
Born in Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, Dr. Kang earned his Master’s and PhD in education from Beijing Normal University. He held multiple roles at BNU, including Assistant President at BNU Press and Executive Associate Director at the Research Centre for Basic Education Curriculum, contributing to China’s 8th curriculum reform.
From 2004 to 2011, he was a Research Associate and China Projects Advisor at the Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia, Canada, and served as Co-Director of the China Education Centre at the University of Sydney, Australia (2010–2014). He returned to China in 2011 to continue his work in the field.
Dr. Kang’s research focuses on teacher professional development, curriculum reform, portfolio assessment, museum studies, and picture book reading. He has published over 40 academic works in Chinese and English. Beyond academia, he actively collaborates with K-12 education industries and promotes 5C core competence education practices among schools and families.
