Head of Research
Dr. Enrico Nano is the Head of Research at Horizon Group, where he manages a team of economists, analysts, and data scientists who develop global indices and benchmarking metrics, conduct applied impact evaluations, and carry out evidence-based policy assessments. He leads socioeconomic research initiatives that transform data-driven analysis into actionable insights for governments, foundations, and corporations worldwide.
Enrico is a tri-sector professional economist with over 10 years of work experience spanning academia, the international public sector, and the private sector. His career journey includes senior roles at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Trade Organization, and the OECD, where he co-authored economic models, policy frameworks, and flagship reports across agri-food economics, trade, education, labor, the digital economy, energy, and sustainable development.
With a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Geneva Graduate Institute and over 10 publications—including in leading peer-reviewed academic journals—Enrico bridges the gap between rigorous research and real-world application. His expertise encompasses applied microeconometrics, impact evaluation, economic modeling, and policy analysis. His pro bono roles as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper since 2016 (curator of the Rome Hub and member of the Davos Lab Taskforce) and as co-founder of Officine Italia reflect his passion and commitment to driving sustainable development through community-driven social work.
