Dr. Satvinder Kaur

Associate Professor

Dr. Satvinder Kaur is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Applied Sciences at UCSI University, where she has served since 2008. She holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Epidemiology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Community Health from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

She has been actively involved with the National Coordinating Committee for Food and Nutrition (NCCFN) of Malaysia since 2016, contributing as a technical working group member for national nutrition research priorities and dietary guidelines. She was the lead author of the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines (2021) on meat, poultry, and legumes, and co-authored the chapters on milk and dairy products in the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines (2020–2030). More recently, she contributed to the Maternal Dietary Guidelines (2023) and developed recommendations for gestational weight gain in Malaysian women.

Dr. Satvinder also serves on the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM) as Assistant Honorary Secretary and was honored with the NSM Fellowship Award (2025) for her contributions. In recognition of her regional impact, she received the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS) Young Nutrition Leader Award (2023).

Her research spans nutrition and community health, with a strong focus on chrononutrition, maternal health, and food insecurity. Beyond academia, she actively promotes healthy lifestyles through workshops, public talks, and media engagements, and her insights on nutrition have been featured in leading newspapers, online platforms, and health magazines.
