Dr. Sohaira Siddiqui has spent over two decades building and strengthening educational institutions and communities through academia, grassroots engagement, and institutional development. Her research explores classical Islamic legal theory, Islamic law under colonialism, contemporary Islamic family law, and questions of gender, authority, and participation. She continues to research, publish, and teach as an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at Georgetown University in Qatar.

She recently published her third book, Islamic Law on Trial (2025), and is editing The Cambridge Companion to Islamic Law (2025). Her previous publications include Law and Politics Under the ‘Abbasids: An Intellectual Portrait of al-Juwayni (2019), the edited volume Locating the Sharia (2019), and more than a dozen journal articles.

Beyond academia, Dr. Siddiqui serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Cambridge Muslim College, has previously been Academic Director at the Fawakih Institute, and lectures widely on her research and on strategic institutional development.
