S. Venus Jin has served as a Professor of Digital Media since 2019 and as Director of the Communication Program from 2022 to 2023 at Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q). Since 2024, she has served as Associate Dean for Education and Founding Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab (AIM-Lab) at NU-Q. She has led NU-Q’s AI Initiative and launched the university’s new Artificial Intelligence and Media minor.
Before joining NU-Q, Jin served as an Assistant Professor of Communication at Boston College (USA), a tenured Associate Professor of Marketing Communication at Emerson College (USA), and a tenured Associate Professor of Marketing at Sejong University Business School (South Korea).
Jin is an award-winning educator, having received Boston College’s Teaching with New Media (TWIN) Award. She has developed and taught courses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital media, personal branding, digital innovation, social media marketing, and research methods.
A social scientist and data scientist, Jin is committed to interdisciplinary research on transformative artificial intelligence, AI-driven digital marketing, AI-powered metaverses, AI-based virtual influencers, and consumer behavior.
