Ms. Wajiha Qamar is the Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training and a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. She is widely recognized for her work on inclusive and equitable education, with a strong focus on girls’ education, teacher development, and the digital transformation of learning.
Over the years, she has held key roles that reflect her commitment to educational reform and national development. As Parliamentary Secretary for Education, she led major initiatives such as TeleSchool and Radio School, which became essential learning platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensured millions of students continued their education. She has also supported digital learning partnerships with Google for Education and expanded reading and Braille resources through the National Book Foundation.
Her work in vocational and technical training includes strengthening collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and promoting technical education pathways for young people. She has also contributed to higher education reforms with the Higher Education Commission.
Internationally, Ms. Qamar has represented Pakistan at UNESCO, where she engaged in global discussions on sustainable development, digital learning, and women’s empowerment. Her participation in multilateral forums highlights Pakistan’s priorities in achieving SDG 4: Quality Education.
