Io has more than 24 years of experience in Retail Banking, Microfinance, Digital Banking, Fintech, and online lending platforms, with a focus on strategic bottom-line development, product design, and borrower journey customization. His passion for financial inclusion began with a World Bank Microfinance Project in 2008, serving poor farmers and micro-entrepreneurs. At InvestEd, Io structures and scales Lending Operations, optimizing approval times (now 3x faster) and strengthening repayment rates. Previously, he led multi-million peso agricultural micro-credit portfolios, reduced PAR1 from 54% to 3% in under two years, and held leadership roles at UBx, And Financing Corporation, and BPI BanKO.

Io believes “There are no bad borrowers, just bad lenders.” With the right loan design, approvals, and service, he believes good borrowers can thrive and that poor collection practices hurt the most vulnerable students.
