Mr. Oscar Sánchez Jaramillo is a leading innovator in Colombian education. He has served as Vice Minister of Education of Colombia, Secretary of Education for the City of Bogotá, and Director of the National Peace Education Program (Educapaz).

He currently leads CPE, an inter-institutional association that brings together the ministries of education, technology, and technical training to coordinate the national government’s efforts in integrating and humanizing technology in Colombian schools.

Mr. Sánchez Jaramillo has also worked as a consultant and staff member for international organizations such as UNESCO, UNDP, USAID, and the Carter Center. He has served on the boards of civil society organizations, universities, and public and private sector companies, and has taught at several universities. A frequent contributor to El Tiempo and Semana, he writes on education, public policy, and social innovation.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia, and has completed graduate studies in Power, Participation and Social Change (IDS, University of Sussex), Political Science (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana), and Negotiation (Universidad de los Andes).

Mr. Sánchez Jaramillo lives with his wife, Blanca, and their children, Laura (17) and Felipe (13), in a rural area near Bogotá, where they volunteer to strengthen the integration between public and private education in their community.
