Sadia Mir is an Associate Professor of English at VCUarts Qatar. Born in Ottawa, on the unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin people, she is a multidisciplinary scholar-practitioner whose work interrogates equity-centred pedagogy, culturally responsive creative practice, and community writing. She presents internationally and founded the Young Writers Program, a Qatar-wide initiative supporting K–12 teachers with creative and critical writing, and publishing student anthologies.
Trained in equity, diversity, and inclusion, she holds MFAs in Documentary Media and Creative Writing. She has worked in human rights (immigration and settlement, anti-racism, and Indigenous governance) and co-authored the award-winning children’s book Spring Bloom. Her teaching foregrounds access, care, and collaborative making.
