Sophie Roche

Sophie Roche is a Teach First Leadership Development Programme Ambassador who designed and launched a unique Spanish immersion class at The Roche School in London.

Sophie graduated from Durham University with First Class Honours in Spanish and French and completed a Master’s in Spanish and French translation. She trained as a teacher under the prestigious Teach First Programme and spent her early career teaching in a French bilingual school before becoming a Director at The Roche School.

At The Roche School, Sophie designed a Spanish immersion class in which pupils learn the British curriculum in both Spanish and English, making it the only school of its kind in London. She carefully considered how to communicate this teaching approach to families, delivering talks to groups of 30 parents at over 20 open days, engaging 15 embassies, and publishing more than five articles on the subject. As a result, the Spanish immersion class opened with 300% more children than predicted and has been commended by the Spanish Embassy for Education and University College London.
