The 2014 Learning Festival took place Oct. 23 - Nov.8 2014, in Doha, Qatar

Learning Festival 2014

The Learning Festival 2014, jointly organized by the World Innovation Summit for Education– WISE and Katara,  creatively shared some of the latest developments in learning and education.

In 2014, the Learning Festival offered creative takes on the use of technology in education. Through a major photo exhibition and a series of demos, workshops and performances by leaders of the maker movement, the festival offered a state of play of the use of technology in the classroom, and showcased how the makers explore simple analog and digital resources to enhance creativity.

Award-winning photographer Newsha Tavakolian´s work illustrated this year´s WISE publication Learning (RE) Imagined: How the connected society is transforming learning will also be featured at this year's Learning Festival. The visitors got an opportunity to see exclusive unpublished photos showcasing case studies from all over the world, where technology is used to improve learning and opportunity.

The central area of the festival was dedicated to the Maker movement, featuring interactive demos and installations of some the latest creative maker projects such as LittleBits, Makey Makey, 3d printing, Paper Electronics, Arduino-based DYI kits, among many others.  The central zone was animated by performances, debates and other pop- up events by the invited makers and local creative community.
