Teacherly

This initiative is part of the 2019-20 WISE Accelerator Cohort.

What they do

Teacherly is turning teachers into teams. Teacherly is a collaborative lesson planning and peer to peer coaching platform with a focus on flexible teaching and interactive curriculum. Teacherly uses voice technology as assistant as well as remote delivery of lessons anywhere anytime. Teacherly is creating a framework for planning that is universal with tailored recommended lessons, clear routes of progression and real time anywhere teaching and learning.

Why it matters

Four out of ten newly qualified teachers in the UK leave the teaching profession because of workload around planning. Teachers are spending on average ten hours a week on top of their normal teaching hours planning lessons. Teachers are still using email to communicate and use network drivers to upload, download and share resources. There is no easy way to communicate, share and collaborate. Teachers are left with little or no time to learn the skills they need to deliver well rounded lessons that enable students to learn the skills they need and bridge the gap between teaching, learning and the workplace.

Traction so far

Teacherly has supported teachers in 2,083 schools in Europe and the Middle East. The team is focused on increasing number of beneficiaries worldwide. Teacherly has also partnered with University College London Educate Program in order to measure efficacy and impact.
