Firyal Al-Balushi

Firyal is a newly graduated medical student from Sohar, Sultanate of Oman. She completed her M.D. degree from Oman Medical College (OMC), Oman. During her studies, she realized the role obesity plays in Oman as a major cause of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. She started a project called “Meet Your Food” that educates females about healthy dieting to combat obesity. 

Recently, she started an online website “OmanMD, Your Online Omani Doctor” that provides information about common diseases in Oman with a special focus on genetic disorders. She is currently doing her internship as a medical officer at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Muscat. She is interested in otolaryngology as a residency and trauma facial surgery as a subspecialty. In addition to her medical interests, Firyal is also interested in farming and literature.
