Asmaa Al-Fadala

Director of Research, WISE, Assistant Professor, College of Public Policy (Hamad bin Khalifa University)


Dr. Asmaa Al Fadala is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Public Policy (HBKU) and the Director of Research at the World Innovation Summit for Education. With over twenty five years of experience in K-12 education, higher education and policy development, she has served as policy writer at the governmental level, professor, author of books on leadership reform and board member on educational organizations. Dr. Al Fadala’s research interests include leadership for learning, education transformation, entrepreneurship education, teacher professional development, educational reform, innovation in education and SDGs.

Dr Al Fadala holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil from Cambridge University in Educational Leadership and Policy. She has also served at the RAND-Qatar Policy Institute as an associate policy analyst. She has served on the positions of program committee, teacher, school leader, and fellow in various institutes in Qatar. She is a widely published author in the field of educational leadership and policy. She is the author of Qatari School Leadership Portraits: Lessons Learned from Education for a New Era Reform (HBKU Press, 2019).

While carrying out her full-time position as Director of Research at WISE, Dr. Al Fadala has an advisory role in several organizations around the world, including Karanga, a global alliance for social – emotional learning and life skills, Hughes Hall Development Strategy Group at Cambridge University, and Qatar Academy Sidra School. Along with that, she has been a committee member in Greater Share, a philanthropic investment model that works with high impact NGOs and private equity funds. She is also a jury member of the Riyada award in Oman. She served as a board member at University of Doha for Science and Technology. She also serves as a Member of the Comparative International Education Society and International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement.
