Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, Juanes is unquestionably Latin Rock’s leading global ambassador and champion for social change. In 2006, he founded Fundación Mi Sangre, an organization devoted to activating ecosystems and developing capacities so that the next generation of Colombians can lead the construction of a culture of peace in the country. Juanes was hailed by TIME as “one of the 100 Most-Influential People in the World,” and The New York Times as “Latin America’s hottest singer-songwriter … a soulful poet with electric guitar,” Juanes is the only artist holding two of Billboard’s “Top-5 Latin Pop Songs of All-Time,” has 12 #1 U.S. singles to his credit, and has collected a staggering twenty-five combined Grammy & Latin Grammy Awards. Known for his distinctive sound that fuses a deep love of rock & pop music with smartly crafted, multi-layered songwriting, and a deep reverence for the traditional folk and other indigenous rhythms of Colombia and Latin America, Juanes has sold millions of records around the world and was recently honored as “The 2019 Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year” recognizing his “creative artistry, unprecedented humanitarian efforts, support for rising artists, and philanthropic contributions to the world”.
