Student, Sciences Po
Sidharth Santhosh is a graduate student of public policy and economics at Sciences Po in Paris. He currently serves as a Youth Board Member at Reap Benefit, an organisation enabling students to become civic problem solvers. Having grown up in Kuwait, on moving to India, he witnessed the inequalities in society first hand around him. This shaped his aspiration to make a difference by enabling his peers to empathise with societal inequalities we are exposed to in our daily lives but choose to ignore. After exploring this by organising TEDx events in his high school, he now pursues his motive by conducting evidence based policy research.
He believes that education is an important tool in empowering the disadvantaged. He has volunteered with a non-governmental organisation in enrolling students to the Right to Education policy in India and in facilitating summer camps for students from rural India which aimed at reducing summer slide of knowledge. He realised his interest in research when he interned at Centre for Policy Research, a leading Indian think-tank on a project understanding teacher motivations and time-use in government schools. For his undergraduate thesis, Sidharth analysed factors that lead to convenient access of the right to Education amongst urban economically disadvantaged households.
