Building Online Communities to Boost MOOCs in China

Learning Ecosystems and Leadership June 20, 2014

In China, the completion rate of MOOCs is not more than five percent even though most courses offer access to high-quality content.

Dr. Yang Liu, Director of Education at Guokr in China, explains how her organization found a way to strengthen learners’ engagement and interest in the courses.

They created MOOC Academy, an online community to allow collaborative learning and pedagogic support. Through this online platform, ‘MOOCers’ can share notes, discuss, upload reviews and class materials and help other users to adapt to new ways of learning.

As on date, Guokr is the most famous social networking platform for popular science in China.
